DP World Inaugurates Container Inspection Facility at Jebel Ali


DP World has inaugurated the largest container inspection facility at its flagship Jebel Ali Port, spanning over 7,000 square metres and providing 59 customs, health and environment inspection bays. 
The new facility is one of the largest inspection facilities in the region, according to DP World.
A number of high-level government officials, including Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, attended the inauguration.
“This new facility at Jebel Ali, the port gateway and the biggest transit of imports to the UAE, is a great achievement and an important contribution to the promotion and the efficiency of procedures for quarantine and veterinary, and in our efforts to sustain environmental security and higher rates of bio-security and food,” Fahad stated.
The new customs inspection facilities operates 24 hours day, seven days a week and according to Ahmad Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, the latest international system for scanning containers and inspecting moving trucks has been implemented.
Musabih stated that the x-ray system is capable of scanning 150 trucks per hour while driving between 8 to 15 kilometres an hour.
Other high-level officials included Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality and Jasem Mohammad Al Zaabi, Director General of General Authority for the Security of Ports, Borders and Free Zones.
